Merve Ertufan

an echo too late

2016-2020; video, 14 mins
Originally produced in the context of HWP open studios, with the support of Ashkal Alwan and SAHA foundation. Expanded version produced by Corridor Project Space and SAHA.

A woman fails to recognize herself. Off-synch voices with disparate origins line up to form a first person narrative. Echoes and overlaps do a double helix somersault while Narcissus and Princess Ateh make temporary appearances, as vectors of recognition, as riddles or literary knots. A peek into the lags and delays of the conscious experience.
